Development: Pteraforming hall – structure

I mentioned in a previous post about the need for me to improve and generate more scale and perscpective for the Hall image. One angle I decided to approach this from is to create a 3d model from which I can take reference from. The main problem with this is I do not really know how to use any modelling or 3d software. After a talk with an Architect friend he pointed me towards Google Sketch-up. I basically needed something  from which I could generate this model fairly quickly or the benefits of being able to use it wold be outweighed by the time taken to learn the software and create it. The great thing about sketch-up is that it’s fantastically simple to use, the basics are that you draw a shape then extrude it. This suited me down to a tee, so in the space of a couple of hours I had what I wanted. The great thing about this being that I can move the point of view to anywhere in my my model then export a jpeg that can then be painted over in Photoshop. I have deliberately kept the model as blank and sterile as possible as it is merely a guide to my final image. below are couple of screen shots of the model –
