Development: Statues – design
Having looked at classical sculpture in the “flesh” and deciding it was the aesthetic route I was going to take with my designs I began working on a few ideas. I wanted to play with the shadows to not only add depth but to emphasise the tone at the start of the piece in what would be the first few shots. The fact that these were people frozen whilst undergoing a massive and painful transformation also needed to be conveyed here.
Below are some sketches for the statues, the three I’m most keen on have also been drawn with a rough sketch of their whole body position. This will need to be drawn more effectively also to be placed in the Hall image. At the moment I am concentrating on the close-up as not only will this be seen first but also in far greater detail. As the whole statues will be a lot smaller within the massive hall setting I can scale down the level of detail.
