Design Development: one
I mentioned in my last post that the three of us wanted a modern, clean and quirky look with the idea of the 3 of us resonating through the design. I also mentioned my attempt to base the design a little on a Japanese style. This has since come together quite nicely through a bit of chance, while looking into domain names. We found that any meaningful use of the word “Origin” within a domain name had either been taken or was very expensive so we started to look into other names and variations. Whilst researching into the word Origin I came across some Japanese words with similar meaning, one of which, when written in English is spelt “Orijin”. I spoke to the others and we agreed it was ideal, a bit different and unique. I also obtained the Japanese and Kanji spellings in case we wanted to incorparate them at all into the design –
I mentioned the quirkiness and that was something we really liked about the OD (Orijin Design) logo – it has a simple emoticon quality to it and combined with the meaning of the way it sounds – odd – and the the exclamation mark it definitely had a quirky nature and that was something we wanted to retain. As a logo it’s bold and instantly familiar. I played around a bit more with this and the text in a slightly different colour scheme –
